the Columbia River dumps into the Pacific

North Head Lighthouse, built 1898
Interesting Facts
In 1788 British fur trader John Meares named the area Cape Disappointment after his inability to locate the river's mouth

In 1792 Captain Robert Gray named the Columbia River after his ship

North Head and Cape Disappointment lighthouses are both functional and are operated by the U.S. Coast Guard

North Head is one of the windiest locations on the West Coast. Winds up to 120 miles per hour have been recorded
There was a gentleman fishing on the cliffs we talked with him when we got back to the auto and he said he caught 3 perch.  As you can see from the photo above him the waves were huge, didn't think any thing could be caught.

All of the above pictures are of La Conner, WA.  It is a wonderful town to explore they have a great many restaurants which have great food one of which is Seeds.  All of the shops are crafts made by locals and what crafts and workshop there is, all are great if I had a house I could see me spending a great deal in this town.  I did find a handmade ring which I feel in love with, had to walk the town before going back to get it.
