Since we have been staying at our Resort parks, there are many, I have added a page where you can pick the park you want to see All Parks

***  South Jetty Resort Park (Thousand Trails/Encore)
05010 South Jetty Road  Florence, OR. 97439
541 997-8333

As you can see I have now changed the journals to "Where ARE WE" this way you will see the photos of where we are and the parks at the same time.

We left Bend, OR on the 5th it only took about 41/2 hours to get to Florence, and our reservations where not till the 6th so we stayed overnight at the Three Feathers Casino.  They had shuttle service, this way Mike did not have to take the car off, nice parking lot to stay overnight in.  Our trip down the Hwy. 58 was beautiful, courage's trees and Diamond Peak has snow of course on it, am told it stays this way year around.  There were 2 tunnels we went through, on one side of the road there was construction so we had a lead car takes thru the tunnel.

We are now in South Jetty RV park till the 26th (May) it is really a nice park, very friendly staff and the site we have is fantastic.  Lots of room and we have full hook ups which are very few of, so we really lucked out.  The first site they gave us took us about 30 min. to figure it would not work, I would be falling when getting out of the rig over a tree stump.  Went to the office and they suggested the site we are in, other then the rear tires are off the ground due to leveling it is really nice as you can see below in the photos.

We drove to Coos Bay to meet Mike's cousin Helen, had a wonderful time and will be going back again next week so she can show me some sites in Coos Bay, we will leave Mike at her house since he does not like site seeing.  Should be lots of fun she and I seem to like the same things. Will have photos of Florence and Coos Bay next week so check back.  There are some great photos below and what we have been doing, read on!

We went to Coos Bay to see Helen (Mike's cousin) she took us to Shore Acres State Park, it was amazing the shore and the Lava rocks, not to mention the Sea Lions.  As you can see in the photos below this is one place you do not want to miss.  The Gardens were icing on the cake.  We walked and had a great time.  Helen then took us to her favorite place to eat down by the marina.
Lava Rocks Helen has been coming here since 1965 and knew so much history it was wonderful, too bad my memory is bad can't remember all she told us but it was great to have a guide that knew all about this park.
Below see if you can see what I saw in the rocks   Can you see the Whale in the rocks?
You could barely see the Lighthouse on the left, on the right Sea Lions, I have been told that the whales come thru here and this is where they get plenty to eat on their mirages to the north and south.
Can you see the face of a Sea Lion in the rock below? Here is another one can you see the face of the fish in the rock?

Umpqua Lighthouse in Oregon
May 11, 2015 Drove down to Umpqua Lighthouse about 30 miles from South Jetty RV park (Florence) going towards Coos Bay
They were cleaning the Lighthouse when we arrived using a very powerful jet spray, you can also see men in the inside, top of the lighthouse cleaning windows, too bad I can't take them back with me so they can clean mine.  the photo to the right overlooks the ocean for whale watching.  Whales migrate during the month of Nov. & May.  The lighthouse is about 30 miles from Florence.  It is just one of over 30 along the coast.
