Get in touch with us Carol

see what we were doing this time last year
December 27, 08
It is the end of the year and there is snow all around us, it's in the mountains, a strange site for this part of the country.  We had a great Christmas, Mike and I have not done much site seeing as I have had a cold that seems to linger.  We are hoping in the new year we will be able to see more of this area.  The wind that Mike said was here all of the time came finally and boy was he right, it felt like a tornado had come through the park.  We have moved back to Desert Pools RV park and the wind has died down.  It is cold around 50's in the day and high 30's a night.

We have made plans to stay in the area until the end of March so I can get my thumbs operated on, this way I won't have to go to Logan, UT to have them done.  Michael (our son) says it is cold and lots of snow there.  Don't won't to be in the snow or cold.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and will have a Happy New Year.  We are in site 70 here at Desert Pools if you are in the area stop by.  Lou & Joyce, who we work camped with in Amado last year stopped by this morning on their way back to Marana, it was wonderful to see them and I miss being around Joyce, she & I would go shopping together there in Tucson.

Here's a toast to everyone who reads our site  "May your New Year be joyful, full of travels and may your friends always be close in an email, by phone or meeting on the road.  We wish you all of your dreams come true in the New Year."  Love Mike & Carol

Every year in the month of December there is held a Tamale Festival ,

about 8 blocks of the downtown area are closed off and thousands of people descend on the area. There are Tamale tasting events as well as dancers and live music and of course the carnival.

The line you see in this photo was for tamales, we stood in line at a different stand and had some of the best beef and green chili tamale's bought us a dozen to take home well worth the money. The weather was fantastic clouds kept the sun away made it a great day for walking and we did do some of that.  The dancers were fantastic

There were all kinds of characters running around to get you to their stands

We had fun and good eats, tomorrow we go to a RV show here on the grounds only because they will have free coffee and donuts, and you know how Mike loves his coffee.

We are now at Indian Waters a Western Horizon park until Dec. 12th we then will go back to Palm Springs TT park, the parks are about 14min apart so it makes it easy to go from one to the other and really expensive to travel.   See more of the pictures of the park

This is a great park with lots of activities and it is the prettiest parks we have been too since traveling.  The sites are large, we are in the no septic area with 30 amps, the site is concrete with gravel pull through, we have a wonderful view of the mountains.

Since being here we have played Texas Holdem, bingo & had a craft show.

If we had to settle in one place right now, this would be the park, I can't say enough about it the people here are wonderful, cheerful and very helpful.  Too top it off there are lots of places to go and see.  I never thought Indio would be so great but I really do not want to leave the area until we really have to which would be around March as it does start getting hot here, the temp during the day is about high 70's and at night around low 50's.  Great weather and so far no wind, which Mike is very surprised by.

We are in site 263 until the 12th so stop by if you are in the area. Going to a tamale Festival tomorrow. I'll let you know if they are as good as they are in Arizona.

Until next time love Carol
